Out of this battle
by Kathleen Watson (1942)
I never saw such blossom on the trees
as in this year of sorrow.
Nothing frees
the heart of grief;
but there is courage in a firm belief
that after all it is the power of life
growing greater, stronger through this strife.
I never heard such song beat on my ears…
carry your grief in triumph through the years;
be not afraid;
out of this battle life itself is made.
